Nestled along the Des Moines River Valley in Keosauqua, the picturesque county seat of the Villages of Van Buren, the Mansion Inn is a timeless example of urban elegance with country charm. Built circa 1870, the warmth of it's architecture is matched only by the friendship of your hosts. The gracious living rooms and dining rooms on the ground floor offer and expanse of comfortable seating for group conversation or just relaxing.
Step into our parlor. A room nearly thirty feet long, highlighted by the four ten-foot windows which flank the fireplace and overlook the side lawn. Sink into a comfortable sofa or chair and have a cup or coffee or a pot of tea.
The side door of the parlor leads to the screened porch and more comfortable seating. Listen to the birds, curl up with a good book and maybe an iced tea or soda!
Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Monopoly? They're all available in the living room. Gather around the old oak table and match wits with your friends or fellow guests. Between turns enjoy the view from the huge arched window, crowned with beautiful leaded glass.
Stroll into the foyer with its carved woodwork (including a concave door) and up the grand staircase past two stained glass windows and into the upstairs hall with its curved walls.
Ah, the bed suites! Some with private baths; even a claw foot tub, all are roomy! Lush king, queen, and twin size beds draped in gorgeous linens invite you to sleep like a baby.

The Mansion Inn is a year round delight. Spring is green and the scent of lilacs fills the air. Summer roses are blooming over the acre of lawn and the flower beds overflow. Trees blanket the entire landscape with brilliant jewel colors in the fall. The pristine snows of winter create a starkness contrasting to the gay interior which is decorated for the holidays.
The Mansion Inn is also available for special events such as retreats, receptions, weddings, meetings and special tours. Call us for reservations or for more information.
